Why is collagen so important for the skin?
Collagen is one of the central structural proteins of the skin and ensures firmness and tone. It is formed in the fibroblasts, the connective tissue cells. From the age of 25, the activity of fibroblasts decreases, which gradually reduces collagen production. This leads to a gradual slackening of the skin and a loss of resistance.
Although numerous collagen preparations are available on the market, the effectiveness of collagen administered orally or topically is highly controversial. The targeted stimulation of the body's own collagen synthesis using active ingredients such as vitamin C or retinol is much more effective. A particularly effective method for stimulating collagen production is collagen induction therapy, better known as dermaneedling (microneedling).
Dermaneedling: natural regeneration, targeted stimulation
Dermaneedling involves fine needles creating microscopically small channels in the epidermis. This precise stimulation triggers a natural cascade of intensive wound healing processes (Šuca et al., 2017) to sustainably strengthen the skin structure. The skin regenerates from deep within, the fibroblasts are activated and the production of collagen and elastin increases measurably. The result: visibly firmer, more elastic skin with greater resilience. (Nair et al., 2021; Alster & Graham, 2018)
The targeted stimulation of the skin's natural regenerative potential is one of the four central pillars of the Derma SR philosophy. Our own experience shows: Dermaneedling is one of the most effective methods for sustainably promoting collagen formation and achieving impressive skin rejuvenation results.
